People in the 70s believed that the 21st century was the dawn of the Age of Aquarius – the fusion of scientific thought with the psychic realm. It is amazing to think that such a topic that was once ridiculed and even blasphemed is now gaining popularity and even approval in different schools of thought. More and more people are recognizing the existence of the spiritual and the supernatural world which explains the increasing popularity of publications on the subject matter. Because of this, different groups are advocating the importance of paranormal education to provide people with sound information on the world of spirits, the inner mind, and other things unbelievable but true.

Paranormal education encompasses three broad divisions of the psychic phenomenon, namely mind-to-mind influence, mind-to-environment influence, and environment-to-mind influence. Paranormal education aims to inform individuals of the possibilities of supernatural experiences to help people understand such occurrences, and be less anxious with encountering them in life. Many people are confused and misinformed about the psychic phenomena that they become oblivious to it, afraid of it, or reluctant to acknowledge it. Mind-to-mind influence tackles the mental phenomena. This includes super mental abilities such as telepathy - the ability to communicate with others using the mind, clairvoyance – the ability to have glimpse into the future, and other things that people generally refer to as extra-sensory perception. Mind-to-environment influence refers to physical phenomena. These are unusual occurrences or influences that are seen in the surroundings. This includes telekinesis – the movement of things by using the mind, pyrokinesis – the ability to start a fire with mental powers, and other things that people generally refer to as mind over matter. Environment-to-mind influence refers to occurrences in the surroundings that affect persons such as possession – the “invasion” of an outside entity of a person’s body, hauntings – the manifestation of spirits affecting people, and other observable incidents that aren't controlled by the person involved in the experience.

There are other topics that comprise the psychic phenomena, and paranormal education aims to enlighten the public about the dynamics of these events. Paranormal education also aims to induce self-awareness amongst individuals who find such episodes irreconcilable with conventional mindsets.
